This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.
These photographs give an insight into the important role that Gosport played in the Great War both as a garrison town and as a base for the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Harbour.
Here you can see the Gosport Volunteers marching along Stoke Road, the Gosport VTC, HMS EMPEROR of INDIA, the RFC Cookhouse at Fort Grange, the RMLI Parade, a pilot with his Sopwith Camel at GRANGE 1918, the Rifle Brigade at St George Barracks and an unknown Cavalryman. The photographer Louis Lawrence can also be seen in his uniform for the Hampshire 9th Cyclists 1915.
